A man was airlifted to the hospital after he was hit by a car in Genesee County Saturday evening.
Police say the man, believed to be in his fifties, was walking in the roadway on West Main Street in the City of Batavia around 8:30, when he was hit by an oncoming pick-up truck.
The man was taken by Mercy Flight to a local hospital with serious head injuries.
Police say it appears alcohol was involved.
"Just before the accident, a citizen tried to help him out of the roadway, and he became defiant with him and wouldn't accept his help, and he continued walking in the roadway, at which time he was struck," said Sgt. John Peck, Batavia Police Department.
The accident is under investigation, but police say they do not believe charges will be filed against the driver.
