A man wanted in connection with the November shooting of a two-year-old girl turned himself in to Niagara Falls Police Wednesday. YNN's Meg Rossman has more on the case and J'Raeona Moore's recovery.

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — It's been two months since Niagara Falls Police went on the hunt for a man they say shot a two-year-old girl in the face outside a local convenience store, and Wednesday finally brought a break in the case.

"Willie Scott turned himself in today to face charges for assault first and criminal use of a firearm second degree for the November 27 shooting of a two-year-old on Pierce Avenue," Niagara Falls Police Lieutenant Michael Trane said.

That two-year-old is J'Raeona Moore. She was shot in the face while sitting in the backseat of a car while her mother ran into the Hometown Market.

Police say Scott shot at the car twice, striking the girl before taking off and police have been searching for ever him since.

"We'd been looking for him pretty vigorously and we were hoping to catch him as soon as we could,” Trane said. “We had heard rumors that he was going to turn himself in through intermediaries and he did today."

According to Trane, Scott is no stranger to police, with outstanding warrants on several charges unrelated to the incident. He said Scott answered no questions about the incident after he was taken into custody.

A friend of the Moore family tells YNN that little J'Raeona is doing well and recovering at home.

"Anytime you have a child, who's obviously innocent, it's pretty rough on everybody," Trane said.

Scott is currently being held without bail.
