State Police in Niagara County have arrested Kenneth Lathrop Jr., 26, and charged him with assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police received reports from Niagara County Protective Services that an infant was being treated for Shaken Baby Syndrome at Women and Children's Hospital.

An investigation found that the child's injuries were caused while under Lathrop's care.

He is being held on $5,000 bail and will next appear in City of Lockport court Friday morning.
