Surgery on Phoenix's leg successful
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Phoenix the Jack Russell terrier will keep his leg after the latest surgery performed on the dog that was set on fire last fall.

Vets at the Buffalo Small Animal Hospital did the surgery Friday afternoon.

Phoenix can now put weight on his back left leg and will be able to keep it.

Vets say this is the last surgery and he can be adopted once he heals in four to six weeks.

One of the two men accused of setting the puppy on fire, 17-year-old Diondre Brown, pleaded guilty to animal cruelty. His co-defendant, 19-year-old Adell Ziegler, pleaded not guilty to the same charge.
