One of the best-loved local venues for underground bands and musicians is closing its doors this weekend.
Mohawk Place will close Saturday after a weekend long series of performances from local and national acts.
Nine bands played Friday night with several more to follow Saturday.
Dan Markovich, who has been working at Mohawk Place for ten years, said the local music community will be losing an asset when the venue closes.
"This place meant a lot to the music scene around here; not only around here, but all over the country, there's bands all over that come here they know what this place is about," he said.
The venue has been at its East Mohawk Street location for 22 years.
