Gun violence up in Buffalo in 2012
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Firearm related violence in the City of Buffalo spiked in 2012, according to a new report released by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services.
The new report, which used statistics from the City of Buffalo police department, says firearm-related violent crimes were up 8.9 percent during the first 11 months of 2012.
During that period, firearm murders rose from 26 to 37 and aggravated assault by firearm also rose by 14.3 percent.
