BUFFALO, N.Y. — Progress was the word at the Lafayette Presbyterian Church Thursday as Assemblyman Sean Ryan and community members discussed the future of Women and Children's Hospital.
The focus was not the hospital's move to the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, but the vacancy it would leave.
Speakers pointed to successful cases where empty Buffalo buildings had been re-purposed for the better.
The thought on everyone's minds seemed to be how to avoid a long-term vacancy.
"This is going to be the largest vacant site that's happened here since World War II. So, we're looking at this as an opportunity, and it's an opportunity we have to get right," said Ryan.
Groundbreaking on the new Women and Children's facility will start this spring.
