Principal fired after misconduct investigation

DEPEW, N.Y. — A principal in Depew has been fired after school administrators say he misused money for student field trips and had inappropriate contact with former district employees.
Depew Schools superintendent Jeffrey Rabey tells YNN he was notified of concerns regarding Cayuga Heights Elementary principal Robert Puchalski back in November of 2011.
After an investigation, the district brought 20 disciplinary charges against Puchalski, including misconduct, immoral character and insubordination.
On January 15th, a hearing officer found the district proved its case on all charges, and Puchalski was fired.
"Our number one goal is to focus on the education of children, and when there are events that interrupt or would interrupt that mission, we will take action to preserve the integrity of the education that we want to provide to our children," Rabey said.
Criminal charges have not been brought against Puchalski. Those would need to be brought by the Erie County District Attorney, who school officials say is aware of the situation.
