BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Buffalo Americorp volunteers embraced the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service by giving some TLC to a recently vandalized teen center Monday.

More than thirty volunteers participated in the 'Increase the Peace' project at the Sister Karen Klimczak Center for Nonviolence.

About two weeks ago, the teen center was vandalized and thieves stole nearly a thousand dollars of entertainment equipment.

Volunteers Monday cleaned and organized the center, and painted ceiling tiles.

Buffalo Americorp Program Director Pamela James said they're spreading the value of service.

"Whose ever greatest should be those that serve, as MLK said, as Martin Luther King said. That generational concept of service should be passed on to our children and to our children's children," James said.

Volunteers also set up ten computers that were recently donated to the center.
