OLEAN, N.Y. — More money for poorer districts was the message the Olean Teacher's Association tried to spread during a rally Monday.

About 150 teachers, parents, students and administrators marched from the steps of the high school to the front doors of State Senator Catharine Young and Assemblyman Joe Giglio's offices on State Street.

The group wants governor to update the state aid formula and for more funding to school districts with lower property values.

"We have over the past five years cut back 54 positions between teachers and support staff. We also lost two elementary schools over that time and we're pretty much cut back to bare bones right now," said David Laskey, Olean Teachers Association President.

The governor is expected to release state aid numbers Tuesday.
