Police in Tonawanda warn against identity theft
TONAWANDA, N.Y. — Town of Tonawanda police say people should keep an eye on their credit and debit cards. Police there say they've had a number of complaints of identity theft in the past few weeks.

Police say they all involve Key Bank accounts; however, the bank tells us there's no breach within its system.

Police say that they aren't sure what happened, but it's hard to investigate these types of crimes.

"Unfortunately, a lot of these don't get solved; they don't end in arrests. There is not a lot to go with quite often, there aren't enough footprints left behind from people doing these crimes," said Lt. Nick Bado of the Tonawanda Police Department.

Key Bank says its increased its monitoring and advises customers of any bank to do the same.
