CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. -- There was a big crowd at the IHOP restaurant in Cheektowaga early Tuesday morning. They were there to celebrate National Pancake Day with free pancakes.

Nationwide, IHOP's are raising money for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. In Western New York donations will go to the future John Oishei Children's Hospital.

"All of the money, right now, is going to build the new hospital," said Lisa LaTrovato of The Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo Foundation. "It's a $260 million project so we need all the help we can get and we're looking forward to having it open early in 2016."

The new hospital will be located on the Buffalo-Niagara Medical Campus. Ground-breaking is scheduled for the Spring and it should be open by 2016.

National Pancake Day runs until 10 p.m. Tuesday at participating IHOP's.
