Man in Joker makeup causes disturbance at restaurant
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY, N.Y. — A man dressed as the Joker from the latest Batman movie trilogy has been charged following an incident at a restaurant in Chautauqua County over the weekend.
Lakewood-Busti Police say 24-year-old Aaron Chase entered the Applebee's on Fairmount Avenue just before 11 p.m. Sunday, sat at the bar, and demanded alcohol.
Police say Chase was clearly intoxicated and had no money, and then began harassing people at the bar.
Chase was charged with trespassing and was taken to WCA Hospital for a mental evaluation.
"I would strongly suggest that an individual that walks into an establishment like this dressed as he was, that the police are contacted. Let the officers investigate the situation and handle it accordingly," said Sgt. Inv. Paul Gustafson of the Lakewood-Busti Police Department.
Police say this is not their first experience with Chase. He was charged with possession of marijuana on Saturday, a day before the Applebee's incident, when they responded to a call of a suspicious person walking down the street dressed as the Joker.
Ellicott Police also said he was recently kicked out of a bar there.
