Stranded travelers at airport try to make the best of it

The winter weather is also affecting travelers at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. YNN's Katie Cummings is at the airport with the latest.

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — Lots of travelers here are hoping to get their final destinations. Many say this isn't the way they envisioned visiting the Queen City.

The boards here have more delays and cancellations than on-time flights. Some places, like major hub John F. Kennedy Airport, are stopping all inbound and outbound flights due to the storm, leading to cancellations across the northeast.

Some travelers are waiting patiently while others say they need to get home soon.

"It's not really been properly arranged, then we get worried, then we learned that anyway we are not going to make it for Chinese New Year's Eve. We're very disappointed and upset by that," said Faye Qiao.

"Everybody's been accommodating as much as they could be. I mean, its tough," said Myra Eblen.

Both travelers were hoping to catch a bus to Detroit, where they could fly out. However, the airline decided to put them up in a hotel for the night rather than risk putting them on messy roads.
