The City of Buffalo was also hard hit by the storm making its way across the Northeast. YNN's Meg Rossman joins us with more on how the city is dealing with the clean-up.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The snow coming down threatened commutes up and down the East Coast Friday afternoon, but as it turns out it's nothing Buffalo residents can't handle.

"It's due, you know? People complain but we're in Buffalo," Buffalo resident Jordan Thrun said.

And snow showed up in a big way Friday afternoon.

"It's insane,” Jiton Martinez said. “It's a lot of snow!"

But it's nothing city officials couldn't handle.

Public Works Commissioner Steve Stepniak said crews were out prepping city streets as state officials prepared to move more than 1,300 snow plows ahead of the storm.

"We are a 24/7 operation which gives us an advantage on that, being able to move the personnel around very fluidly," Stepniak said.

More than 35 units hit main and residential streets in the early morning hours Friday and so far residents seem to be pleased.

"I haven't seen any accidents or anything, so that's good,” Martinez noted Friday afternoon.

Stepniak said that's because he and other city officials always prepare for the worst.

"We anticipate changes and we're able to modify for those changes, so we weren't really surprised by this at all."

As of Friday evening, Stepniak said the weather had yet to cause any major issues. But even with snowfall expected to taper off into Saturday, he added city crews don't plan to slow down anytime soon.
