Excess speed a factor in parkway crash in Niagara Falls
NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — State Police say a man was thrown 35 feet from his car during a crash on the Robert Moses Parkway in Niagara Falls early Wednesday morning.
Troopers say Brian Smead veered off the road near the New York State Power Authority intakes, and hit a guard rail.
Investigators say because Smead was driving too fast, he overcorrected his steering, hit a curb, and his vehicle became airborne and rolled over.
Smead was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected. He is listed in stable condition at ECMC with a broken hip and a number of cuts.
State Police say charges are pending.
