JAMESTOWN, N.Y. -- We've learned the name of the 5-year-old Jamestown girl who was killed Friday in a sledding accident.

Jamestown Police say Isabella Stanford died after the sled she was riding on was hit by a car when she slid into traffic at the intersection of Foote and Newland Avenues about 6 p.m. Friday.

She was taken to WCA Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

"Obviously, given the location of the hill, close proximity to Foote Avenue, the high volume of traffic. it's just not a good idea," Police Chief Harry Snellings said. "You have to provide adequate supervision of your children and make good decisions here."

Isabella was a kindergartner at Milton J. Fletcher Elementary school in Jamestown.

No charges are expected to be filed against the driver.
