BUFFALO, N.Y. — Police said a man in his 50s surrendered without incident to officer at his home in the 400 block of Hinman Avenue. Police say there was no indication that the man was armed.

SWAT and hostage negotiators were stationed outside the home for more than an hour.
The scene began breaking down around 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Neighbors say officers gave them few details, but told them they needed to evacuate their homes.

Neighbors we spoke to west of Clayton Street say they were told to go west toward Military Road, away from the scene.

"I was out running errands, was coming in, standing in my backyard and saw cops running with their guns drawn," said Meredith Matthews, a neighbor.

"Seeing the cop in the backyard with the big gun was disturbing. I was getting in the shower when all of this started to happen so by the time I got out cops were knocking on the door telling us we had to go," said Danielle Nelson, neighbor.

Police say the man was taken to VA Hospital for observation, and that there are no charges at this time.
