Three hurt after car strikes utility pole
WESTFIELD, N.Y. -- Three people were hospitalized in the Southern Tier after Chautauqua County sheriff's deputies say the driver of a car fell asleep at the wheel.
Deputies say 57-year-old Cynthia Marx of Rochester fell asleep while driving on Route 5 in Westfield on Saturday.
She tried to over correct herself after veering off the road but hit gravel and snow.
Her car then slid down an embankment and struck a utility pole head on, causing it sheer off.
Marx and two passengers in her car were taken to Westfield Memorial Hospital.
