TONAWANDA, N.Y. -- The SPCA of Erie County brought the glitz and pageantry of a Hollywood's award show to western New York.

The second annual Pawscars is a way for the SPCA to say thank you to the public.

Staff and shelter volunteers dressed up for the occasion and strutted their stuff on the red carpet.

The shelter has been offering half price adoptions through-out the week, ending on Sunday.

Dozens of pets have been adopted this past week.

"We never like to think that we're selling animals or anything like that. We're here to find animals homes,” said SPCA tech Sloane Terech. “When we have specials like this, it's a thank you to our adopters and a thank you to the Western New York community for coming out and supporting the SPCA."

Anyone who adopted an animal during Sunday's Pawscars event also got a free professional photo taken of them with their new pet.
