BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Buffalo woman who struck it big four years ago by winning a home makeover hopes to once again find success in a new venture.

Dolores Powell opened a Jamaican-themed restaurant Sunday on Massachusetts Avenue. Mayor Byron Brown helped cut the ribbon at Mama's Kitchen.

The restaurant is just down the street from Powell's home, which was featured in a 2009 episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."

The Jamaican immigrant plans to feature foods from her homeland such as curried goat, ox tail and fish tea. She said opening the eatery culminates a life-long desire.

"I never gave up the dream, and thank God today it is possible ever though it took nine long years," she said.

Powell said the menu is inspired by dishes her mother served her as a child.
