Local community activist in jail after violating conditions of sentencing
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita says a local community activist has been sent to jail.

Darnell Jackson, the man who helped get the City Grill shooter to turn himself in to police, pleaded guilty last December to harassment in State Supreme Court.

Sedita says he was sentenced to a one year conditional discharge on the conditions of undergoing a mental and substance abuse evaluation as well as a domestic violence program. Jackson took no steps to do so, and was found in violation of the condition of his sentence.

He helped work out the surrender of City Grill shooter Ricardo McCray in August of 2010. Four people died in that shooting.

Jackson faces eight days in the Erie County Correctional Facility.
