JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Vince DeJoy resigned Sunday from the Jamestown City Council.
The former Ward 4 representative resigned to become executive secretary of the Jamestown Urban Renewal Agency.
Democrat Marie Caruba was appointed to fill the remainder of DeJoy's council term. Caruba is the executive director of the Southwestern Independent Living Center and has served on many community service boards.
"She also served as the chair of the reapportionment commission for the city in 2012 and brings with her a wealth of background and experience to the city council. I'm looking forward to her coming on board next week," said Sam Teresi, (D), Jamestown mayor.
Caruba's term runs through December 31st.
