BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Residents in Buffalo's Fruit Belt voiced concerns about the changing shape of their neighborhood at Monday's Common Council meeting.
Residents in the east Buffalo neighborhood say they want to be more involved in plans to expand the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus.
That expansion involves tearing down a housing development so the University at Buffalo can build a facility on that land.
Councilman Darius Pridgen told YNN those residents would be moved into nearby rental properties.
Area homeowners are worried about property values and dwindling parking space.
They seek a voice in what's happening there.
"This whole concept of development, and redevelopment is not going to work unless we are actively at the table," said Fruit Belt Housing Task Force founder Veronica Hemphill-Nichols.
The transfer to UB will not happen until at least 2017.
